Bring on summer revisted

3:37 pm Thu, 20th July 2006

Hold that thought. Ok, backtrack a little. Stop there. Thats better.

Excuse my craziness. I blame the heat. When I said bring on summer, I didn’t quite mean sitting in an office with no air conditioning while it blasts 36 degrees heat.

I. Am. So. Hot. I can’t concentrate here. I’m falling asleep. Drinking water non-stop until I feel bloated. Even my chair feels like a heater. I love the hot weather… but, when there is no air con it kinda sucks.

Looks like I’ll be heading to the pool again tonight. For the 3rd time this week, I get to quench myself in the blissfully refreshing cold water at the Tooting Lido. I swam 8 laps the last two times.. and am hoping to make it 9 laps tonight! šŸ™‚

36 degrees is indeed very hot. Aren’t you allowed to go home when it’s that warm?
If it makes you feel any better, you’re not alone. It’s still freaking hot here too.
A few posts back you said your goal was to swim 1km, if I remember correctly. How many laps is that?

Unfortunately we are not allowed to go home. How hot is it where you are (where are you again?)

1km would be 11 laps (the length of the pool being 90 metres). And actually I swam 11 laps tonight! So, guess I’ve reached my goal! šŸ™‚

Well, it’s now 11:05 AM and the temperature is 29 degrees. It’s not quite as hot as your work, but we’re not used to that kind of temperature.
Oh, and I’m from Belgium (Bruges to be exact).

So, you’ve allready reached your goal in 3 days. Hmmm..
If you continue to get better at this rate you’ll be swimming a marathon by the end of the summer…

Hey cool. I love Belgium! When I visited Frankfurt where my boyfriend was contracting, we used to drive to Brussels for a short holiday. We looove Brussels.. the food, the chocolate, the french fries, and the SHOPPING! I bought myself a whole new wardrobe there once:

Hehe. So were you born in Belgium.. or moved there from elsewhere?

Yeh its 10:15 here now (we’re an hour behind you) and its sweltering here at work. You know its gonna be a hot day when you start sweating on your journey to work in the morning!

If you have time to spare and a do-it-yourself guy at work, you can try to build your own airco šŸ™‚

I am born in Belgium. If you would live in Belgium, your opinion of my country would change. We have a lot of rainy days, but I like rain, so for me it’s not that bad.
I haven’t been to Brussels that much. It’s about a 2 hour trip from where I live.
I saw the result of your shopping spree in Brussels, you weren’t lying when you said you bought a new wardrobe.
    Girls and shopping… šŸ˜‰
